Research in Motion has finally announced new Blackberry Torch 9850/9860. These are all touch phones and heavily optimized for displaying videos, photos, web pages and enhanced gaming experience.

Blackberry Torch 9850 and 9860 come with 3.7 inch touch screen with WVGA (800*480) resolution. The touch screen is the largest ever on the Blackberry. A crisp viewing experience is provided along with performance, reliability and security for which Blackberry devices are known for. These smart phones enable enriched multimedia and browsing experience.

These phones are powered by 1.2GHz processor, 768GB RAM, Bluetooth, 768 MB RAM, WIFI and GPS. The internal memory is 4GB and it is expandable up to 32GB. There is 1230mAh removable lithium-ion battery.

BlackBerry Torch 9850/9860 are running on Blackberry 7 OS and feature 5 megapixel camera along with 720p HD video recording capability, scene modes and image stabilization. The new Blackberry 7 has some of the important changes and modifications like so called Liquid Graphics for better UI transitions and updated browser. The browser performance is better compared to the previous models with faster scrolling. The liquid Graphics technology is known for high performance graphics processor for fast CPU and responsive touch screen.

The new Blackberry 7 is around 40 percent faster than Blackberry 6 OS and 100 percent faster than Blackberry 5 based phones.

There are also enhanced Blackberry Messenger that delivers the real time experience. There is a updated Social Feeds(2.0) application for getting the updates from podcasts, media and favorites in one view.

Both the phones are identical except Blackberry Torch 9860 is a HSDPA/GSM phone whereas Blackberry Torch 9850 is a CDMA device.

Blackberry Torch 9860 can be bought from AT&T, Telus, Bell and Rogers whereas Blackberry Torch 9850 can be purchased from US Cellular and Sprint.
