Don’t get surprised if you see your site PageRank updated on this weekend. Yes, Google engineer Matt Cutts gave this hint on his blog. (See Matt’s comments on this post)

On Matt’s blog one reader asked question:
“I was noticing a lot of sites are bouncing around PR wise. Is there a new PR update taking place?”

Here is Matt’s comment on this:

“I wouldn’t be surprised if new PageRanks started showing up this weekend or so”

This is a clear hint of PageRank update coming.

The last PageRank update was two months ago. When I started blogging it took almost 8 months to see first PageRank update on my site. Now two months frequency for PR update is too quick but Google might be tweaking their page rank algorithm.

Due to this short time span most of the sites may not see the PR change. Hope that there is not any drastic change in algorithm ;-)

One thing is clear that the PR is no longer the measure for site’s authority with Google and ultimately no connection with site traffic. Publishers not seen any PR update last time may see the change this time. Hope it is a PR++ for everyone and no penalty to anyone.
