Samsung is on a roll with the release of new gadgets in the market. There is a huge popularity of Android phones in Indian market. The new Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 is another Android based touch screen smartphone, a mid range android spot.
It weighs 113 gm and its dimensions are 112.4*59.9*11.5 with curved edges and good build-quality. It runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo OS and it comes with 3.5 inch TFT capacitive touch screen, 800 MHz processor and 348 MB RAM. It features 5 megapixel camera with auto focusing, LED flash, geo-tagging and face and smile detection.
The LCD screen is average with brightness and contrast not up to the mark. The touch screen is not at all over sensitive but responsive enough. There is proximity sensor above the display which blends well with the surface around. There are three keys just like other Samsung phones with two capacitive buttons, Menu and Back and home key in the middle.
The Galaxy Ace is ready for worldwide roaming with network quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and dual-band HSPA with 7.2 Mbps Some other specifications are WIFI b/g/n, USB v2.0, FM radio and Bluetooth v2.1 with A2DP support.
Android browser is easy to use and extremely powerful. Three zoom methods are supported – dedicated buttons, multi-touch pinch-zooming and double tap.
However, the only glitch is that Flash is not supported. There is a YouTube application for compensation though.

There is ThinkFree Office pack pre-installed which is a combination of document viewer and editor combined. The performance is excellent and fast. There are numerous other applications. The AllShare application lets you stream content to and from different devices(TV or computer) over DLNA. Social Hub application is for media sharing and messaging. The Galaxy Ace runs on the latest version of Android with full access to Android market.
There is 158MB of internal memory with unlimited contacts and call records and micro SD card is available for memory expansion up to 32 GB. 158MB is not that good especially when it comes to application installation. The battery is Li-ion 1350 mAh which gives 11 hours of talk time in 2G, 6 hours 30 minutes of talk time in 3G. Standby time up to 640Hr(2G) and 420Hr(3G).
What we didn’t like about Samsung Galaxy Ace?
– Dismal QVGA video recording at 15fps
– There is no shutter key for the camera
– Adobe flash in web browser not supported
– DIVX/XVID video format not supported
– No ambient Light sensor

Samsung Galaxy Ace Review Summary:
Samsung Acer is a mid-range phone with great features for its price: 800 MHz processor, 5 megapixels camera, Android 2.2 Froyo, good build and 3.5 inch HVGS screen. However, with horrible video recording and poor codec support one might have to make a compromise. But it worth the price.
