Wipro Technologies India’s big software giant announced that they have acquired US based Infocrossing firm for $600m. Infocrossing provides Information Technology outsourcing in United states.
If completed this acquisition will be the largest by any Indian Technology company. Infocrossing, based in New Jersey, will add to profits “from day one and help in an expansion of margins,” said Suresh Senapaty, chief financial officer at Wipro.
The biggest competitors of Wipro, Tata consultancy and Infosys are buying the US based companies to expand their product base. Wipro is now in this race.
his acquisition will bring Wipro 200 new customers to their existing 640 customers all over the world. This will be a all cash transaction and Wipro plans to merge this unit with their existing US unit. Wipro expecting a combined business of around $1 billion in coming 1 or 2 years.
“Wipro will deepen presence in the main market with this transaction,” said Vinod Bansal, director at Veni Madhav Securities. “The buyout price is not at a substantial premium, so it is unlikely that the market will take it negatively.” Infocrossing has strong base in health-care and infrastructure management in United states with 900 employees.
